Let's get real here ladies. We focus too much attention on our face and eyes more than our neck, at least when it comes to skincare. Anti-wrinkles here, even out pigmentation there, shrink pores down, fill lines up, it's a merry-go-round of sorts while chasing the proverbial fountain of youth. Then boom! Turkey neck came to visit too soon and decided to stick around!
Turkey neck a.k.a saggy neck is simply loose skin under the chin we can't unfortunately tuck away. We can delay the occurrence but once it's there, we just have to embrace it. Just look at all the celebrities with overly-stretched and botoxed faces; while they remain wrinkle-free, their necks scream otherwise. So what causes turkey neck then? The number one reason is aging. Overtime, skin loses its elasticity and the muscles become flaccid. Today I'm sharing with you how I defy it, come hell or high water, haha!
1) Moisturize. Whatever moisturizer or serum I use on my face, I take the extra step to extend it to my décolletage. I have reviewed a gamut of moisturizers and serum on the blog, just hit search.
2) Don't skip sunscreen. We all know that UV rays age skin fast so apply sunscreen as you normally would.
3) Exercise. Inactivity leads to weak neck muscles, among other things. Turn your neck left to right, count ten times. Another trick is to tilt your head back and do imaginary chewing for ten seconds, repeat as necessary.
Like I said, these are meant to prevent, not to eradicate neck wrinkles. At the end of the day, you and I are smart enough to know that aging is inevitable, it's only a matter of time.
Forever young (in my dreams),
Kathryne

DeleteI tell all my friends to wear sunscreen and start using neck cream like yesterday. And I'll tell you what, Kath....in the nearly year last year that I was in a neck brace, my neck just fell apart. It's awful. The muscles atrophied and It's been really hard to try to be patient and see what I can do with it. It's like my neck aged 20 years in that 10 months. Everyone, listen to Kath!!! Especially with the sunscreen!!!
ReplyDeleteOh I'm sorry to hear that. Are you doing some physical therapy?
DeleteThanks
