The Week That Was: Fall Booties & Sneakers, No Makeup Makeup Plus Straightforward Review of Tom Ford Lip Contour Duo Public Display

What are your fall must-haves, style-wise? I love booties, oxfords, and sneaker wedges! My taste in fashion is latched on comfort, balance and basics. Anything that won't require me to overanalyze when it comes to pairing. Age did that me. Four-0 club, raise your hand!

My "dressed down" version is to switch to sneakers and long-sleeved shirts. I guess you can call it laid-back fab when you throw in minimal accessories here and there.

One of the things I get asked often is how I keep my shoes in pristine state. I use the stuffers that came with them and keep inside the box as much as possible. I don't own a closet-full of shoes so that makes it easy for me to maintain them.

How do you define a no makeup makeup look? 3 products for moi! Giorgio Armani Luminessence CC Cream (lightweight, sheer coverage with subtle luminosity, I wear shade 4), Marc Jacobs New Nudes Sheer Gel Lipstick Understudy (neutral pink) and Lancome Definicils Mascara.

Tom Ford Lipstick junkie here so when I saw the recently-launched Lip Contour Duo (Fall 2016), I had to get at least one shade to add to my insanely growing collection. Sold in five colors, I settled for Public Display (warm nude brown). In a nutshell, it's a two-in-one product, lipstick on one end, a retractable lip liner on the other.

Smashed, my poor lippy! It has nothing to do with clumsiness but you need to train your mind on how this duo is packaged. Click open the liner side, the top comes off and the liner stays in the tube. Now click open the lipstick side, the lipstick itself comes off. Ergo, if you're not accustomed to the reverse setup, it's a recipe for disaster just like what happened to mine. The finish is luminous and the texture is very similar to the lip color version, richly pigmented and hydrating. It is slim and measures a little above an inch when fully retracted up. The lip liner is matte with specks of shimmer, it's a nice neutral shade but the total dealbreaker is this: the tip broke miserably when used to fill in my lips! For what it's worth, I am disappointed. Bottomline, I am not a fan of this release and if you're considering to buy your first ever Tom Ford lipstick, stick to the tried-and-tested-and-repurchased-again collections, the lip color and lip matte (I have reviewed a ton on the blog)!
