So what do you do when you have tons of lipsticks? wear 'em all! But seriously, wearing at least two shades give lips a different dimension and updated look. The techniques aren't rocket-science; in fact, you can find so many tutorials shared via social media. Ready for my take? scroll down for a quick tutorial.

Bright red lips seems like a harsh color to some so to tone it down, pair it with nude, ombre-style. For today's post, I used two shades from Anastasia Liquid Lipstick: Bloodline (tomato red, swatched here) and Crush (soft beige, swatched here). Lipliner is optional but if you want a more precise and sharp rendition, use one like Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Lip Pencil 69 (red). I prefer liquid lipstick because of its proven longevity and unapologetic pigmentation. This particular pairing survived lunch all the way to dinner so if you're going somewhere without having to retouch, think liquid lipstick!
1. Line lips by following its shape.
2. Apply bright red lipstick all over lips.
3. Layer nude lipstick at the center.
4. Smack lips lightly.
5. Reapply red lipstick on the side of the lips as necessary.
On a side note, chokers are back! Make your own, I shared a very simple DIY last week. I received good feedback from you guys so I am reviving DIY projects every now and then, whenever I have extra time to tinker. Wish I can hire a photographer to take a decent picture of my outfit (haha!) but this is how I usually style chokers. Sleek ponytail, denim jeggings (Target), black shirt (Express) wedge sneakers (Nike Dunk Sky Hi) and black bag (Roberto Cavalli).

ReplyDeleteYou're so nice, thank you! You rock any lipstick shade too!
DeleteDo you go through the layering when you are out and want to touch up? That's what would be my bugaboo.
ReplyDeleteGood question. I used Anastasia Liquid Lipsticks so I didn't need to retouch the whole day.
DeleteI love the idea of ombre lips, but have never actually tried them. The shades you used look so great together.
