Easy DIY: Zipper Choker

Probably unknown to some of you but before I started this blog six years ago, I used to run my own online shop selling handmade accessories. Life became unbearably hectic so I had to shut it down but I kept all the inventories because I love making accessories as a hobby. So lately, I'm into black chokers, they remind me so much of the 90s fashion, my era, my heyday! When I was Face-timing with my mom last weekend, she noticed my thin choker and asked where I got it. I told her I made it myself so immediately, I thought of sharing with you a quick DIY choker, zipper-style!

The supplies are surprisingly basic, you can get them from any craft store or better yet, buy them via ebay, they're cheaper and you have a gamut of options at your fingertips. Depending on your preferred look, you can unzip or keep the zipper intact. The one I have from my stash is pretty wide so to make my neck look slender, I separated it. Other supplies include jewelry pliers, recycled chain (as extender), crimp ends (so you can hook both ends), pair of scissors (measure your neck size and cut according to your preference), lobster lock.

1. Using a pair of scissors, cut the zipper according to your desired length and neck placement.
2. Close the other end by pressing the crimp with flat pliers.
3. Attach jump ring to the other end. Chain extender is optional. Use jewelry plier to open and close the chain and/or jump ring.
4. Attach the lobster clamp to the chain and/or jump ring.

Done in under 3 minutes! Easy peasy. Do you want more DIY's like this?

  1. This is SO cool! I'm looking for nifty party favour ideas for my niece's birthday and these would make a great choice, especially if we can get the girls to sit around and make their own. Would love to see more DIYs.
