Bronzer is a year-round staple for me. In fact I wear it more often than blush, not to contour but for everyday sun-kissed aura. Oh the irony of faux tan! I live in Hawaii, ten minutes from the beach for that matter, yet I hardly have time to soak up the sun. Now you understand this whole bronzer bias.

Enter Vita Liberata Trystal Minerals Self-Tanning Bronzing Minerals, which as the name implies, is a loose mineral bronzer with self-tanning properties purported to last for days. Sold as a set (domed kabuki brush included), I apply it over foundation on the side of my face, forehead, neck (and sometimes décolleté).

This bronzer comes in one and only shade and while it appears dark on the swatch, thankfully I didn't get the muddy look I so despise. Zilla's tips? swirl, tap, apply light-handedly, blend, and then build as you wish. But please, know when to stop, no to tanorexic woman! The kabuki brush is of high quality and feels mighty soft on the face.

The bronzing powder is finely-milled, oil-free and matte. If you have medium skin tone with warm undertone (golden or yellow) like moi, this product will naturally enhance your complexion. I did not develop tan because in my experience, it rubs off with a makeup remover and/or cleansing oil. For my makeup below, I applied Vita Liberata Bronzing Minerals over By Terry Cellularose Moisturizing CC cream and Guerlain Meteorites Compact (side of face, forehead, under the chin). Overall, I am delighted to add this beauty to my ever-expanding bronzer stash!

  2. I know what you mean about living near the beach, but never going! I'm so pale, I wonder how the tanning aspect of this bronzer would work for me. I could use a little color!

    1. Thanks Judy. I like bronzed skin but don't advocate tanning beds or over exposure to UV rays

  7. I've been eyeing this powder, but it looks too dark for my complexion. I love that it comes with the brush! P.S.: I also live near the beach, and I only go there to photograph things sometimes :)

  21. I've yet to find a bronzer I'm comfortable using. Most that I tried were too dark even when I used a light hand and tried to blend out. You look freaking stunning though!
