I'm all about light coverage these days, foundation-wise. Throw in some skincare, you bet I'm tryin' and buyin'. Case in point, the newly-released Dior Nude Air Serum De Teint ($53, 1 oz), a serum-slash- foundation with broad spectrum SPF 25.
Available in very limited color range, eight to be exact, I picked up 023 Peach, the closest to my medium skin tone. It truly is weightless and light-as-air with sheer yet buildable finish. The consistency is fluid-thin and runny, in fact it should be marketed as tinted serum rather than foundation. It comes in a hefty glass bottle with dropper, as shown in the photo.
Infused with cranberry oil, vitamin and minerals, this talc-free product imparts a semi-dewy effect, which is quite timely for spring and summer. I have experimented several ways applying it: clean fingers, beauty sponge, stippling brush and buffing foundation. I like the latter more because it applied seamlessly. I have also tested wearing it alone, over moisturizer and over primer. I prefer with moisturizer because my skin reacts better with it. If you have dry or patchy skin, I must warn you that this product does accentuate it which is why I recommend to apply your moisturizer first. On the other hand, if you have extremely oily skin, steer clear because I observed apparent shine issues on the fourth hour (I have combination skin now). Given these peculiarities, you can deduce that it works best for normal skin or better yet, to you ladies with blemish-free and goddess-like skin! Set with finely-milled powder, wear time is six hours which is rather short-lived in my little black book of makeup & whatnot.
Here's a before and after comparison for your better judgement:
As you can see, my face is a tad darker than my neck; to each her own but I prefer matching my foundation to my neck because it looks more natural. Eye bags don't lie, this zilla is packing 'em with pride even with Nude Air on top. But I'm not going to finish this post half-way done so here's moi with a finished look. I'm feeling minimalist, are you?

What's your go-to foundation for Spring?

It's too bad that it has such a limited color range. The description reminds me a bit of the Armani Maestro foundation– especially with the dropper. It does seems as though one has to have great skin that is neither dry, nor oily. I will check them out in person, but I wonder if it might be more trouble than it's worth for my combination skin! Thanks for the excellent review, Twinsy! xoxo
ReplyDeleteKath, you are looking gorgeous as always! I'm the same way, I try to match my foundation to my neck. I think this one looks good on you, thanks for the swatch & review!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a good base for a decent coverage powder foundation... I need MUCH fuller coverage though so for the price I'll prob stick to the PUR Minerals Liquid Veil or IT Cosmetics!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great on you!
ReplyDeleteI actually think you look better without the foundation in this case. It just doesn't do you justice - and for that price, it should.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like it would be nice for summer, but I need more coverage and more hydration especially since it's still cold here. I'm using the Dior BB Cream & I like it.
ReplyDeleteIt's so strange to see a foundation made for good skin. If you have good skin you should flaunt it! Regardless, I think you look lovely in the last photo :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think it has enough coverage for me, but it looks lovely on you!
ReplyDeleteThis gives you a lovely finish. My sister freelanced for Dior and she never could find a match for her very light skin with this but she did with the Dior BB Cream.
ReplyDeleteGirl, what do you know, I was doing events for Dior during the launch of this fabulous foundation and I LOVED the texture and how it looked so radiant and natural on many skin types. I was doing makeovers for ladies using this!
ReplyDeleteThe finish is gorgeous and very natural. It enhances your beautiful skin.
ReplyDeleteI love a light foundation, but it sounds like it's a bit too finicky for people without "normal" skin. You look gorgeous, as always :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks great on you and I love that it's a natural looking finish.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a serum foundation, but this likely wouldn't work for my usually dry skin. Love he natural finish though- you look amazing!
ReplyDeleteThe photos of the foundation bottle are GORGEOUS!!! I'm not sure I would like this foundation at all. My go to foundation type product of late has been a toss between the It Cosmetics CC Cream and the bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Gel.
ReplyDeleteIt looks amazing on you! But I always have a problem finding the right foundation since I'm SO PALE.
