Amongst the newly-released Spring releases, Chantecaille The Glacier Eye Shade Trio wowed me the most, presentation-wise. The scenic glacier-inspired palette is too beautiful to touch, let alone use without feeling absolute remorse. I ordered mine online, including the Galactic Lip Shine (Aurora) to satisfy my demi-obssession for all-things Spring.

A limited edition for Spring 2015, The Glacier Eye Shade Trio ($70, 7 g .25 oz) is created with neutral-adoring women in mind. Featuring three muted shades, namely Polar Light (matte taupe), Iceberg (iridescent white), and Arctic Dust (sheen taupe-lilac), these eyeshadows are soft and creamy with light to moderate pigmentation.

The silver case is hefty but rather prone to fingerprints. It comes with a decent-sized mirror and mini-brush with commendable bristle quality. Of course I read your inquisitive mind like a real sister... yes, those silver glaciers were unfortunately overspray! I was quite bummed because I thought it was a genius addition to crack the neutral theme #wishfulthinking

If I may reiterate again without sounding like a broken record, these eyeshadows are very subtle when applied dry. With that said, save your time and effort from repeatedly building the colors because they appear best when applied wet. Effortlessly stunning like the Arctic's melting glaciers, these eyeshadows are sublime for daytime wear. Applied over an eye primer, they last about eight to nine hours with minimal fading. Love neutral and taupe? I know this palette will appeal to you. Love exuberance? sorry girl, it ain't for you.

Here are dry and wet swatches for your reference (standalone shade and mixed with overspray):

I'm a bold lipstick babe more than anything but Galactic Lip Shine Aurora (holographic pink/lilac, $34, 3ml .1 oz) captivated me. Reason being, it's a serum and gloss in one! It feels luxuriously divine with delectable sugary vanilla scent. Infused with raspberry seed oil and mango butter, my lips stay hydrated whether worn alone or applied over a lipstick.

It comes in a tube with pointed brush for precise application. This hybrid serum/gloss does not feel waxy or tacky at all. Wear time is rather short-lived (two hours at the most) so reapplication is definitely needed.

Think you own a similar shade? here's the swatch in comparison to Gucci Lip Lacquer Carnelian and Bite Beauty Lush Fruit Popsugar.

Finally, my #FOTD using all three shades from The Glacier palette (applied over eye primer, wet technique) and Galactic Lip Shine Aurora.

  1. Chantecaille palettes are always SO BEAUTIFUL. It's so hard to actually use them! And that lipgloss? Perfection!

  4. YAY I've been waiting to see this! I like it but I don't think I need it. Which is shocking LMAO I am still in lust with the Bee palette but was let down by the trio of the greatest hits.. whatever it was called. IDK that I ever even put it on my blog it was such a let down. BUT. More importantly. TALK TO ME. Is that a new Gucci bag I spy?

    1. I skipped on that before. You have very sharp eyes.... yes, that's a bucket bag from Gucci :-)

  6. That palette is gorgeous.. but mainly to look at. It's a little spendy for three barely-there colors.

  7. I guess I expected more oomph out of that lippie. But that palette? Too amazing for words! I love the design.

  8. Oh wow - this is such a pretty, soft look Kath! I love the packaging of the eye palette but it might be a little pricey for my tastes, like you said, I love taupes and nudes but I'm also all about color and this wouldn't get me to pull the trigger. I'm definitely intrigued to learn more about the brand, I've got to peruse their website!

    1. Chantecaille is known for subtle and neutral shades, kinda like your everyday wear but on the luxe spectrum. There are so many things I still want to try from this brand....

  9. I'm going to skip the Palette. I love the packaging, as always, but the swatches were disappointing. However, I absolutely love the shade of the lippie on you. Beautiful photos!!! <3

  12. So I purchased the Hydra Chick Saxifrage lip color and the blush featured in the spring look along with the palette. I love the palette, but it is tres sad to wipe away the pretty glacier overspray. I love the muted colors and they look great on me, but I think you could find dupes for less. I only tried the eye colors dry and am excited to try them wet. And I agree, the accompanied brush is actually pretty good. Didn't get the gloss (still might), but I am loving the Saxifrage lip color and blush!

    1. True, I hesitated swatching this. The overspray was a letdown but overall, I still liked this palette. I have to get that lip color now that you mentioned it!

  17. I want to buy it just to stare at it! Dammmmmn that's pretty. Too bad it's just an overspray though. Seriously such a creative design!
