My Eyebrows Saga Plus Swatches of Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade (Dark Brown, Medium Brown, Auburn)

When I became (il)legally blonde, my utmost concern happened to be my brows. I want them to compliment my hair color without looking cartoonish or fake. So my no-fuss solution led me to repurchase another Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade, the only cream eyebrow product I love to-date.

I can forgo mascara or eyeliner but I can't leave the house or be caught offguard with untamed or unmade brows. You've read it countless times but it's true, eyebrows frame the face. It's also the quickest face lift sans exorbitant tag. Got round face like me? Arch your brows to elongate your face. Want to look younger? refrain from overplucked, pencil-thin brows.  Simple tips from your vampire sistah.

My eyebrow routine is not rocket-science, everything remains the same (as discussed here) except for color change. When I dyed my hair plum last year, I complimented it with Dark Brown. When I went back to brown hair, I thought Medium Brown pomade is better. When I turned caramel blonde last December, I had to switch to Auburn. #itsawomanthing #firstworldproblem #sowhat

Still following my eyebrow chronicle? It's the first thing I notice in you gurl. If you are my BFF, I will not allow you to have bushy, messy or undefined brows. Immediately I will pull out my tweezers and pluck those stray brows or better yet, I will drag you to a brow bar to have 'em groomed once and for all (my treat because I care for ya!).

Skeletons in the closet. Truth is, before #WOWBrows, I've had my own share of eyebrow mishaps. I'm quite a late bloomer so at mid 20s, I'm embarrassed to admit that I had pencil-thin #WTFBrows ... then it metamorphosed to overly-drawn #OABrows in my early 30s ... But thanks to beauty blogs and Youtube, I learned how to look like Morticia and Wednesday for Halloween! See, practice makes perfect, haha!

Let's talk Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade swatches lest I bore with you another eyebrow story.

Overtime, it dries up so you may need to warm or "melt it" with a blowdryer. I prefer using an angled eyeshadow brush when I define my brows for easy, natural strokes. There's not much difference between Dark Brown and Medium Brown but to the nitpicky, you will find that the former has more warmth in it. Since I have reviewed this product in detail when it first came out last year, I will just reiterate the reasons for my fondness: smudge-proof, ease of use, impressive wear time.

Do hair and brows need to be matchy-matchy all the time? I say no because by nature, our hair color and brows don't exactly match (with the latter being darker regardless if you're blonde or brunette). The safest choice is to go one shade darker with your brow color, at least that's how I did it.

What about you? care to share your brow woes and wows?

  1. Best brow product ever - I have Dark Brown and Chocolate and love both - tried jet black and it was too intense for my liking. I agree that matchy-matchy is not needed.

  5. Girl, I think we all had those horrible thin brows at some point. Yeesh, mine were bad. And call me crazy but I LOVE your Wednesday brows. Anyway, I'll check these out. I wonder how they'll do in super humid Florida...

  6. I really like the auburn best on you. When I dyed my hair red, I felt like I needed to change the color of my brows, too. In my 20's, I had a home permanent hair remover. MISTAKE!!! Overdid it, not realizing where my brows were supposed to go and they will never ever come back. :( that's my sad brow story.

  7. I'm still learning about how to create my best brow, but I was lucky enough to get a brow shape from Eugenia Weston, and I'm trying to maintain it as best I can! I've never tried the dip bow, but I just bought Anastasia's Brow Wiz, so looking forward to trying that.

  9. Preach girl... Your #WTFbrows were from the 90's right? That decade ruined so many brows.

  10. Perfect timing-- I was just thinking I had neglected my brows and they needed some love. I made the mistake of bleaching my dark brown brows years ago. They turned bright red and I spent months trying to cover it up.

  14. I have been using Anastasia's brow gel in the mascara-like container and love it. Now I'll have to give this a try too.

  15. I love cream brow products and agree that one shade darker is ideal. I have repurchased Laura Mercier Blonde eyebrow pencil umpteen times.

  17. You know how I feel about brows. If undone, to me is like going out without underwear.....Dip Brow sounds like good stuff, I haven't used it myself. I use Senna and my Lancome Brow Pencil to fill mine in.

  18. You've had so many different brow looks! I've pretty much always done the same thing.

  19. You are so cute. I've been using mine for practically a year, or since shortly after they came out and I've barely made a dent in the container. I freaking LOVE mine. Dark brown is my go to shade but I want to try medium next.

  20. You look fabulous. I bought this product before and while I wanted to love it, I discontinued use and returned it. It dried my brows and left them flaking kind of... it was really weird.

  21. I love how Auburnn looks on you, I use both chocolate and soft brown

  22. still a pain first got elf medium that could be a bit dark, now I got the blond one, it is lighter indeed but I c build it up easier than a dark shade, to avoid the morticia look, even my hair is pretty dark. Happy new year stll for you girl. I still don't like the shape of my brows
