Guerlain Lingerie De Peau BB Beauty Booster :: Review, Swatch, Before/After Photos

Now that I have streamlined my everyday makeup routine, multi-tasking products are my ultimate allies 365d. Anything that cuts laborious application, count moi in. I'm not a huge BB cream worshiper but so far I am pleased with some of the brands I have tried (Rodial BB Venom Skin Tint, YSL Top Secrets All-in-One BB Cream Skin Tone Perfector, Guerlain Super Aqua Serum BB Hydta+).

Guerlain Lingerie De Peau BB Beauty Booster has been on my radar so I purchased it when Sephora had VIB sale not too long ago. After a week of road test utilizing different application techniques, I am ready to share my experience!

Without repeating what you already know, BB cream shot to fame because of its multi-faceted benefits: primes the skin, hydrates, fights free radicals, offers sun protection among others. Guerlain Lingerie De Peau BB Beauty Booster ($52, 1.3 oz) list the same claims except that it's luxuriously packaged, but of course!

If there is one absolute con amongst BB creams in general, that would be the limited shade selection. I've learned from my previous boo-boo's because by Guerlain's vernac, my medium skin tone fits better with natural shade. So with only three colors to choose from (light, medium, natural) the latter was a no-brainer decision.

Guerlain Super Aqua Serum BB Hydra+ is thinner and appears more dewy than Guerlain De Peau BB Beauty Booster.

The consistency is quite thick, almost like a foundation but with better slip. The best way to apply it is with a damp beauty sponge. It dries to a semi-matte finish which tricked me the first time I tried it! If you recall, I mentioned that I don't set matte foundations with powder anymoreHuge mistake. Three hours into wearing, it melted without pity, much to my surprise! With that said, this BB cream does need a setting powder come hell or high water. But even then, its wear time is short-lived, six hours at the most.

On the plus side, it rendered decent coverage, reduced the size of my pores albeit temporarily, and brightened my face like I had a good night sleep. Despite some shine issues, it didn't oxidize or turn my face to oompa-loompa-in-distress. The photo on the left is au naturel. You can see that my face is darker than my neck so when it comes to foundations and whatnots, I buy those that closely match my neck. The photo on the right shows how Guerlain BB Beauty Booster looks un-set with powder.

While it wasn't a complete letdown given the merits I cited, I won't be repurchasing this BB cream only because I hate touch-ups when I'm out and about.

And so the hunt continues, said tweety bird.

  1. Paying that much for a face perfecter to have it melt away is no bueno. It does look fantastic, tho. Have you tried using a primer under it? Maybe that would give you better staying power?

  4. It's a pretty look. Too bad it needs to be set. And in the Hawaiian weather, it sounds like it may not be up to the task.

  5. It definitely should not melt away after such a short amount of time. Touch-ups while you are out and about is just too much trouble to be worth it! I swatched their BB Cream a while ago, but like you said– the limited color range and the lack of a good match turned me away. Excellent review!

    1. BB cream marketers should amp up their color range. I guess they don't pay attention because in their minds, bb's remain a skincare product (and not makeup)

  6. It looks great on you but it's way too high maintenance considering the price tag!

  11. Oh no, you have to reapply while out. Yeah no....for $52 a 3 hour wear time... No good. I am soooo happy that I didnt pick this up yet. I was playing with it at Nordstroms and on the fence. I always know you will beat me too it, so I am happy I read this.

  14. For that much money, it should definitely last longer! It does look great on you, though.

  16. The finish looks great, but that wear time is a total bummer- especially at that price point.

  20. I don't mind touching up lips, but blotting and powdering my face usually results in cakiness or dryness.

  21. It has good coverage but like you I also do not like touch ups OR powder like ever, so this would be a non negotiable clause for me.

  22. Touch ups are the worst when you're out, you look stunning though!

  24. i actually haven't even been carrying a purse with me anywhere these days - just my phone, which has a case that holds my ID and credit card, so I hate wearing makeup that I have to touch up during the day.

  25. While it looks great on you, the wear time definitely is a let down :(. Bummer!
