Yesterday I introduced you to Gucci Eye Magnetic Color Shadow Quad in Autumn Fire, a blind purchase which turned out to be a winner in terms of texture, longevity and pigmentation. As a self-confessed lipstick addict, you bet a haul ain't legit without lippies in tow. Ready to read my thoughts? kindly scroll down for more photos, swatches and final verdict.
When it rains, it pours! With a gamut of choices yet hardly any swatch of the entire collection online, I had to narrow down my choices based on gut-feel. As a backgrounder, there are 25 shades from Audacious Color Intense and another 25 from Luxurious Moisture-Rich. Take note, there are lip glosses which I will cover in another topic. Headache coupled with salivation: hallmark symptoms of severe lipsticktitis, haha!
They look the same but feel different when worn. If you read my post yesterday about over-branding, then you may have a clue that it's something I disliked about Gucci Beauty. Blame the old woman in me but I prefer subtlety when it comes to designer brands. The lipstick line is surprisingly modest, packaging-wise. It's a twist-up type with embossed logo on top and imprints on body tube. Opulent in black and gold, they look the same from the tube but feels different on the lips.
From the Luxurious line, I chose 440 Tiger Lily, quite a unique plum because I don't own anything like it 'til now. It's on the cool side with pink and blue flecks up close. It has better slip, applies evenly and feels weightless. It has decent wear time of about five hours (sans meal), tapering off with barely-there stain afterwards. According to the website, Luxurious lipsticks contains more than 65% emollients and oils which use body's natural heat to melt onto the lips. It feels quite similar to YSL Silky Sensual. It's also fragrant but not overpowering. Here's Tiger Lily in comparison to some of my fave plums to-date (reviews are linked):
From the Audacious collection, 030 Spring Rose is a flattering peachy-beige neutral shade. It grips the lips with more pigment but less moisturizing compared to Luxurious (Tiger Lily). It feels quite similar to Charlotte Tilbury Hepburn Honey and another Audacious...NARS! (seriously is this coincidental or what?) Wear time is also five hours, give or take. Think you own a similar shade? Here's a comparison with some of my favorite nudes (reviews are linked):
Do you need Audacious or Luxurious? if you're intrigued with Gucci Beauty, it doesn't hurt to try! $39/tube seems like a splurge but c'mon woman, you work hard, you keep your home tidy, you take care of the kids (add the hub if you may) so treat yourself to something wonderful once in a while. I just did...
Gucci Beauty is currently sold at Gucci online, Neiman Marcus and Saks
