Are you familiar with VMV Hypoallergenics? If you shop at Dermstore or you're into serious skincare stuff, I'm guessing you've heard of it at some point. My first experience with VMV dates back to over ten years or so ago when I was looking for a sunscreen with the highest SPF (Armada Sport 70). VMV is short for Vermen M. Verallo- Rowell, MD, the name of the founder who happens to be a dermatologist/ dermatopathologist. While I've tried some VMV skincare products in the past, I was way more interested to be reoriented with the brand by exploring the eponymous makeup line.
It all started with a lipstick gifted to me by my sister, it's called Chorus Line from The Glitz Lipstick collection. This particular shade is semi-sheer pearlescent mauve-pink. Of course I had to add one more to my stash because that's how I roll (truth: I'm lipstick-obssessed). That inevitably led me to Copa, a pink magenta shade with slightly creamy matte finish ($24, 0.14 oz).
The silver chrome tube reminds me of Chantecaille, very understated yet chic. While Chorus Line feels a tad gritty, Copa is slightly creamy. Chorus Line is subtly tinted, Copa is drenched with pigment. Both lippies are said to have green tea extract and virgin coconut oil which nourish the lips. My lips are very dry at this time of the year so I had to apply lip balm underneath for extra hydration. Wear time for both is about four hours, give or take.
Overall, I am happy to have rediscovered VMV. It's a breath of fresh air from designer and department store brands I currently possess. On a side note, it's kind of nostalgic too because it brought back memories of my not-so-distant workaholic past. When lunch break meant working lunch, dinner an extended meeting, and weekend for networking. All work and no play for this zilla. But you know what's interesting? I've always been fond of makeups even back then. I used to frequent this beauty boutique after office hours to swatch, spray, try, and buy. Yep, long before I started this blog. I guess we can say it was really meant to be, beauty-blogging that is.
Have you tried anything from VMV? What makeup brand from your past do you want to revisit?
Kathryne
P.S. Since I'm feeling nostalgic, here's moi year 2000. Can you even recognize me? (read: the geeky girl w/ coke bottles and pixie hair)
