And so it's summer, my most dreaded season of all! The only thing I love about it is my birthday (in 2 weeks ladies, I'm ringing 43!) but other than that, if I can hibernate inside my mother's womb without having to go out ever I would!
Now I'd be completely frank with you. A summer-proof or heat-proof makeup in my real dictionary of beauty is to wear no makeup at all. With the exception of broad spectrum tinted sunscreen which can pass for a lightweight makeup with add-on benefits! But if you need to glam up a little (attending event outside or in my case, a working gal who needs to look presentable), I say keep it minimal at the very least. Here are my go-to makeups that can withstand this hot and humid weather.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay In Place Makeup Foundation. Great for oily to combination skin because it dries to a matte finish. It does not emphasize pores but t's imperative to moisturize prior to application to facilitate easy blending and smoother canvass. This my holy grail foundation when it comes to longevity and finish.
Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Microfinishing Pressed Powder. I don't set my makeup because I like dewy finish when I'm at the office but I can attest to the wearability of this powder. Applied sparingly along t-zone or in areas that tend to get greasy, this reinforces foundation quite nicely.
eltaMD UV Elements Broad Spectrum SPF 44 Moisturizing Physical Sunscreen. On days I skip makeup, this is the only product I wear. It protects against UVA and UVB rays and is water-resistant for 40 minutes. Of course, reapplication is needed every 2 hours or whenever you get sweaty or wet for continued sun protection.
Smashbox Liquid Lipstick. This is guaranteed long-wearing unless you devour greasy food. I hate to retouch when I'm out and about so this is one of my lipstick mainstays. On a side note, I tend to focus on my lips by wearing bright shades (like Thrill Seeker, bright red orange) during the summer and skip eyeshadows and bronzer if need be. Less is more!
Finally, I am currently loving Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara. This by far is the only mascara that can hold up to a hot and humid weather. It's also waterproof which makes it ideal when you're swimming, because lash goals right? you bet I'm serious. You can see it in action in my video below (by the way, please subscribe to my Youtube channel if you haven't yet. I post A Day In The Life Vlogs. As some of you know, I am an Aesthetic Registered Nurse with special focus on laser procedures, radio frequency technology, medical-grade skincare, etc. I will take you along with me, show you how the machines look like, how I start and/or end my day, places to visit in Hawaii, makeups and outfits of the day. It's raw and real without heavy editing..it's going to be exciting, please support me in this new endeavor).

Estee Lauder Double Wear is the BEST. It truly does not move!
ReplyDeleteDouble Wear is a great suggestion! Believe it or not, I've never tried that MUFE Pressed Powder...I need to get on that!
ReplyDeleteTarte Lights, Camera, Lases is one of my fave mascaras. It holds up to our AZ summers, beautifully.
ReplyDeleteYour lashes look so incredibly long in your video. Are they your natural lashes wearing Tarte? They looked amazing!
ReplyDeleteHi Allison. Thanks much. Yes, natural lashes but they grew long because of neubrow serum. Remember my eyelash extension misery? I was thankful this serum really saved my lashes!
DeleteFantastic melt-proof picks!
ReplyDeleteI wish I would've read this last week before my son's graduation! I was looking for a waterproof mascara that gave volume and length... the one I picked (which shall remain nameless) was a total dud.
ReplyDeleteSunscreen for sure! I'm so glad you mentioned it. We often try to wear so little when it's super hot out that we forget we need the basics like sunscreen for protection.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually someone who never wears make-up. Mainly because I have no idea how to apply it correctly. But you've given me a few products to check out for those rare occasion where I need to add a little something for an event.
ReplyDeleteI am really not enjoying the heatwave here right now. But I tried La Roche-Posay Anthelios fresh mist today under my makeup. It's factor 50+ and so lightweight.
ReplyDeleteThat mascara is one of my faves!
ReplyDeleteI love the Smashbox Always On liquid lippies (enabled by your review). For a while now, I'm noticing my EL Double Wear caking badly on me - possibly the huge breakout and scar revision have changed my texture so much so that the foundation doesn't do well anymore? NARS All Day's performance has changed too. The others remain the same.
ReplyDeleteI am not enjoying the heatwave here at the moment. But this morning I tried La Roche-Posay fresh mist sunscreen. Can't believe how weightless it is for f50+
ReplyDeleteI definitely need to try that Tarte mascara! Your lashes look amazing!
ReplyDeleteI love DOUBLE WEAR!! I need to buy some more!
ReplyDeleteYes, summer makeup is very hard to pull off. Love your picks and I have GOT to finally try Double Wear!
ReplyDeleteI'm right with you about the Summer. >< I'm also glad to hear that Double Wear is a good foundation, I've been looking for a new one!
