Happy New Year my fabulous readers! I hope everyone had a blast celebrating the holidays with your loved ones. 2017 is here and we are all back to the grind! Blog-wise, I contemplated on better content creation because honestly, I am slowly getting burned, bored and bummed with the beauty industry in general. I think we all have our "moment" so while I am in the process of revamping this six year old blog, let's get our coffee fix in!

So welcome to Coffee Fix! People close to me know that I love caffeine; I can't start my morning without a good brew! I was smiling from ear to ear as I unwrapped my christmas presents because they're mostly coffee mugs! That led me me to the next idea: why don't I incorporate them with my next ultimate addiction... liquid lipsticks! With that said, let's see how the newly launched Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet live up to its claim of eight hour wear time vis-a-vis sips from today's feature mug (Starbucks).
I am a fan of Burberry lipsticks so when I saw these liquid lippies via Sephora online (currently open to VIB Rouge and VIB), I had to get my favorite shade Oxblood (dark berry) plus Military Red (warm red) to see if the formula will wow me and warrant a repurchase. Retailing for $34, it is sold in 14 shades ranging from nude to pink to red to burgundy. It is packaged in a frosted agile case with Burberry's signature plaid cover and soft doe foot applicator (as photographed above). Per Burberry "it is developed with creamy, whipped texture for a bold velvet finish that lasts up to 8 hours. The non-drying formula ensures moisturized lips with color that does not fade, dry or crack".
On my lips, it feels more like a molten lipstick, a fusion between Burberry Full Kisses which is soft and creamy and Burberry Lip Velvet which is matte. It is less liquidy than Anastasia and Kat Von D but certainly more cushiony than Smashbox. The wear time as to be expected is not at all 8 hours. It does not dry to a full matte and as you can see from the mug below, it transfers like a regular lipstick. It fades as the day progresses but quite stains the lips when wiped. On the plus side, it does not dry out the lips or emphasize unsightly lines.
For formula comparison, here are arm swatches of all 3 Oxbloods. You can tell an addiction ha?
Bottomline, it is not a long-wearing liquid lipstick but it does render superb color payoff and commendable hydration. If liquid lipstick in general deters you from trying due to its infamous drying formula, you will find Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet certainly more comfortable on the lips. I am buying Fawn (dark nude) when it gets restocked.
Oxblood is my kind of shade! Both are gorgeous on you! I sit sipping my latte as I enjoy your beautiful post! Happy New Year! <3
ReplyDeleteI actually love the ones that don't completely dry matte - like Armani Lip Maestro. I have to see what other shades they have!
ReplyDeleteMilitary Red is one of my favorite reds! I'm excited to see them expanding their line and including that color!
ReplyDeleteNot my color but I know that Burberry makes the best especially since it didn't dry your lips out.
ReplyDeleteWow I love this color so much! It's so vampy.
ReplyDeleteNice lippies!
