Best Concealers for Mature Skin

Just like foundation, concealer isn't a one-glove-fits-all kind of thing. In fact, depending on the need or look you want to achieve, it is worth building a concealer wardrobe (discussed in detail here). For my ladies in the four-o (and above) club, concealing mature skin vis-a-vis under eyes call for some tricks and products that won't emphasize crease and dryness. I have narrowed down my top 3 favorites, here they are!

Tip: Before using concealer, apply moisturizer under the eyes by lightly patting around the area. Let it sit for about five minutes before applying concealer. Skip baking as too much powder set under the eyes will emphasize every bit of wrinkles and dryness. Instead, lightly dust powder (I like to use Guerlain meteorites illuminating powder compact) for a glowing and rested look.

It Bye Bye Under Eye Full Coverage Anti-Aging Waterproof Concealer ($24, 0.28 oz). Highly pigmented (you only need one small dot to cover both under eyes), this concealer is ideal if you're wearing makeup for an extended period of time. Used sparingly, it covers dark circles, redness, other discoloration while providing adequate hydration.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer ($29, 0.22 oz). Creamy and easy to blend, this concealer offers medium/ buildable coverage. Sold in 16 shades, its extensive range caters to wider range of skin tone. If you're  looking to brighten the under eyes, choose two shades lighter but if you're concealing imperfections such as acne, broken capillaries or other discoloration not adequately covered by foundation, choose a shade closest to your skin tone.

Estee Lauder Perfectionist Youth-Infusing Brightening Serum + Concealer ($34). Presented in dual-ended packaging, the tinted serum offers subtle illumination and moisturization while the creamy concealer helps neutralize uneven skin tone and cover imperfections. While you can use either one, I prefer layering the concealer over serum for optimal outcome.

  1. What a fab list of concealers for mature skin. The only one that I have tried is the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, and it was a total miss for me. For some reason it dried out the delicate skin under my eyes. I have always wondered if I had a reaction to some of the ingredients because my experience was wildly different from the reviews that I read!

  2. I'm with you on the Nars and IT, great choices. I don't wear much EL or I'm sure I'd have tried that too. The 4-0 club needs these creamy choices!
