Officially it's safe to assume that I had too much of a good thing this past holiday season as I'm still posting last month's epic beauty haul in bits and pieces. Case in point: BY TERRY Baume De Rose Set.
Better late than never. While it's a limited edition, you can still find this diminutive set of luxury lip balms at select retailers. Ever the curious moth like moi? Scroll down for more scoop and juice!
Dubbed as creme dela creme in the over saturated lip balm category, BY TERRY Baume De Rose Set ($89, 5 x 2.3g 0.08 oz) features the cult favorite Baume de Rose and four Baume De Rose Nutri-Couleur: Rosy Babe, Cherry Bomb, Fig Fiction and Toffee Cream in deluxe sizes. For reference, full size of the original Baume de Rose retails for $60 at .34 oz while the Baume De Rose Nutri-Couleur lip balms retail for $56 at 0.25 oz.
I read your mind because much as I have this insane obsession over designer/ luxe beauty brands, I can't justify to spend almost sixty bucks for a lip balm. Like c'mon, is it peppered with diamond dusts? what's in it to make it the uber holy grail of the holy grail? Still quite spendy for a set but at least I get to try each one before committing. Here are the ingredients for your reading pleasure:
Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Tridecyl Trimellitate, Synthetic Wax, Hydroxystrearic/Linolenic/Oleic Polyglycerides, Diisostearyl Malate, Methyl Hydrogenated Rosinate, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Polyethylene, Butyrospermum Parkii/Shea Butter, Stearalkonium Hectorite, C20-40 Acid, Corylus Avellana (Hazel) Seed Oil, Parfum/Fragrance, Tocopherol, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Propylene Carbonate, Geraniol, Rosa Centifolia Flower (Wax) Cera, Rosa Damascena Flower (Wax) Cera, Trihydroxypalmitamidohydroxypropyl Myristyl Ether, Citronellol, Citric Acid, Linalool, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Benzyl Benzoate, Butylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol, Citral, Eugenol, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hexylene Glycol, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, +/-, CI 77891/Titanium Dioxide, CI 15985/Yellow 6 Lake, CI 15850/Red 6, CI 77491/Iron Oxides, CI 77492/Iron Oxides, CI 42090/Blue 1 Lake, CI 15850/Red 7, CI 77499/Iron Oxides, CI 45410/Red 28 Lake, (T0431/B)
L-R: Baume De Rose, Rosy Babe, Cherry Bomb, Fig Fiction, Toffee Cream |
Formula-wise, BY TERRY Baume De Rose dazzled me at first swipe. From a manufacturing standpoint, when you layer castor seed oil with rose wax and shea butter, ultimately you will have hydration like no other. This is particularly helpful during winter months when my lips turn zombie-dry. Succinctly, it is a hybrid between a balm and gloss. It feels like the former but wears like the latter, if that makes sense. It is heavily-fragrant so if rosy scents turn you off, take my utter description as a precaution.
From the swatches below, Baume De Rose is colorless, Rosy Babe is pink, Cherry Bomb is red, Fig Fiction is berry wine and Toffee Cream is nude brown. Although these tinted balms are sheer, they wear quite well throughout mid-day.
I alternately use the colorless Baume De Rose or Rosy Babe to hydrate my lips at night time (because you know, moi gotta have tinted lips while sleeping, duh!) and the rest for day time whenever I skip matte and bold lip shades. So which one do you think is a potential candidate for a repurchase down the line?
A toss between Rosy Babe and Fig Fiction! While I'm still not 100% convinced to shell out that much moolah for a pot of rosy balm, I will definitely keep these babies in mind! Meantime, let me spoil my puckers a bit more while they last....
Have you tried this lip balm? what's your go-to lip balm? enable me please.
These look incredible! I've always been a bit iffy about the original 'Baume' (that price...) but I'd still love to try it.
