Fab & Frugal: Make your own Tinted Moisturizer

For women who don't like face foundation but still want sheer coverage, tinted moisturizer is the solution. A tinted moisturizer serves dual (or more) purpose. It moisturizes the skin and provides barely-there, natural finish. Mid to high-end brands like Philosophy Hope in a Tinted Moisturizer costs around $38, Stila Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 about $34, and Lancome Tinted Moisturizer Vitamin Enriched SPF 30 about $45. Drugstore versions like Cover Girl SPF 15 retails at $15 and Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer at $9.

Fab and frugal mind to the rescue. This DIY (Do-It-Yourself) project is so simple, you can  do it with your eyes closed. It mainly calls for two major ingredients. A liquid (or powder) foundation and your favorite moisturizer.

From my own supplies, I used the following:

• Contact lens holder. You can use any empty container like pill box, travel size jar, etc.
• Body Shop Vitamin C SPF 30 Moisturizer. Vitamin C is known to improve skin's elasticity. SPF 30 protects againts sun's harmful rays
• For demonstration purposes, I used both powder(Bare Minerals) and liquid foundation (Revlon Photo Ready)

1. Decide which type of foundation to use. If it's liquid, pump a small amount and mix it with moisturizer in a container. If you want sheer finish, use little liquid foundation. If you want more color, use more (No-brainer method).

2. Mix both.

Mix with cotton tip or clean fingers

If you want to use a powder foundation, use the same principle. The more powder, the more pigmented your final product will be.

3. Apply onto face in a gentle circular motion.

I'm a foundation-type girl. But in days I want to channel a fresh and natural look ie. out in the park, jogging, running, I use a tinted moisturizer.
