No time to squeeze a spa visit this week? Want to take a break from products sold commercially? Beauty on a budget? Try this homemade face mask. It's so simple you can do it in a flash.
Option 1: Egg and Honey Face Mask
For dry and normal skin: use egg yolk.
For oily/ acne-prone skin: use egg white.
1 tablespoon honey
Egg yolk has properties that help rehydrate dry skin. Egg white tightens pores. Honey has natural cleansing and anti-oxidant benefits. Combined, they make a great and affordable skin product.
What's for breakfast? |
Start by washing your face. Mix egg yolk (or white) with 1 tablespoon of honey in a small bowl. Blend well. Using clean fingertips or face brush (I used my extra foundation brush), apply onto face in a gentle circular motion, avoid eye area. Extend up to neck. Leave on for 20 minutes or until the mixture dries up. Wash face. Optional (Follow with your toner and/or moisturizer).
Option 2: Egg and Milk Face Mask
Egg yolk (or white)
2 Tablespoons Milk
This mask calls for the same ingredients except for milk. Milk offers a myriad of benefits, skin included. Milk has lactic acid, protein, amino acids, and anti-oxidants that help exfoliate and hydrate skin. Use same procedure described above. Leave on for 20 minutes or until the mixture dries up. Wash face. Optional (Follow with your toner and/or moisturizer).
I have personally tried both masks and had the following amazing results:
- Egg + Honey: supple, smooth skin after application.
- Egg + Milk: tightened pores and glowing skin.
Fab and Frugal. Take a break from cosmetics and use all-natural ingredients.
Disclaimer: This homemade face mask is not intended to replace your skincare routine especially if you are suffering from serious skin conditions. Consult a dermatologist instead. Don't attempt to make this if you have allergy with eggs/honey/milk. We are born with different skin type and structure. What works for me may not for you and vice versa. I will not be liable for undesirable results (break outs, irritation).
